Microsorb® filtration products

BASF Catalysts Microsorb® attapulgite-based filtration products, are extremely efficient, thermally activated granular adsorbents that remove contaminants from hydrocarbon distillates, organic solvents, waste oils, white finishing oils and waxes.

BASF Catalysts converts the purest grades of attapulgite clay into high-surface area, high-porosity adsorbents for static bed, tower, cartridge and contact applications at our manufacturing facility in Quincy, Florida.

To produce optimal filtration characteristics, Microsorb products vary in physical form and granule size to meet customer requirements. Hardness, particle size and shape optimize the balance between contact surface area and liquid flow rates.

The Microsorb line contains two series: LVM (low volatile matter) and RVM (regular volatile matter), both of which remove unwanted contaminants.

Processors often select Microsorb LVM because it has the added capacity to remove bound water in the feedstock. LVM granules are hard, resist breakdown during dry handling and filtration, and can be easily recycled. Their low surface moisture makes them compatible with water-sensitive liquids.

Microsorb RVM is the product of choice when the highest level of adsorption is needed, but should only be used when there is no water present in the process feed.
