BASF Catalysts's
Hi-Temp™ auto catalysts can be
installed closer to the engine and remain stable under temperatures
that would deactivate other catalysts. Mounting
Hi-Temp catalysts closer to the engine, or the
manifold, gives earlier light-off, and reduces hydrocarbon (HC)
emissions during the vehicle start up period. With this patented
technology, manufacturers gain precious flexibility in the design
of auto emissions systems, regardless of engine size.
BASF Catalysts
Hi-Temp close-coupled catalysts can
be designed:
- To occupy the entire catalyst volume
- To be used as a smaller volume catalyst in conjunction with
other BASF Catalysts underfloor catalyst systems
- In combination with other BASF Catalysts automotive emissions
control technologies
- In combination with other cold-start technologies
The high level of thermal stability in close-coupled applications
is made possible by a unique, segregated washcoat manufacturing
process. This superior process makes possible accurate positioning
of the precious metals and thermal stabilizers within the washcoat.
This optimizes the catalyst's activity and provides for low
deactivation.
