Emissions from diesel engines are of increasing concern to government regulators around the world. Construction and agricultural machinery, power generators and other equipment that run on diesel fuel are the source of harmful hydrocarbons, nitrogen oxides (NOx) and particulate matter (PM) that pollute the air and are linked to respiratory diseases.

We are a leading supplier of cost-efficient, effective diesel-emission-control technologies. These technologies are in use today on thousands of pieces of construction and agricultural machinery, power generators and other equipment around the world.

BASF maintains significant diesel research and development facilities at our existing engine labs in Union, NJ and Hanover, Germany. These facilities are being used to develop the technologies needed to meet the extremely low emission levels called for in new U.S. and European regulations. BASF's technology development programs include advanced catalytic particulate filters for PM reduction and selective catalytic reduction, hydrocarbon injection, lean-NOx catalysts and N
Ox reduction.
