Diesel oxidation catalysts for on-road applications

BASF Catalysts’s unique DOC platforms were originally developed to reduce TPM, HC and CO to meet US 1994 regulations. BASF Catalysts DOCs have millions of miles of proven performance in light duty passenger car, urban bus, medium duty truck and heavy duty truck applications. With the coming US EPA 2007 regulations, the low TPM emission requirement coupled with the wide range of vehicle applications that must be served by the same engine will require a very robust active filter system.

To meet these new regulations, many engine manufacturers are using a specialized DOC to create an exotherm by oxidizing diesel fuel and creating the high exhaust temperatures needed for active filter regeneration. BASF Catalysts’s unique DOC technology platforms and precise patented manufacturing process enable BASF Catalysts to provide DOC technologies that light off at very low temperatures using the minimum amount of precious metal. BASF Catalysts has also developed unique filtering DOC technologies, utilizing novel alternative substrates that improve total system performance.

In order to meet these more challenging applications, BASF Catalysts scientists are formulating unique catalysts and coating architecture to optimize catalyst performance for a range of applications from original equipment to retrofit.
