A new
oil technology from BASF,
BleachAid™ is a
specially activated montmorillonite mineral adsorbent.
It is designed to function as both a filter-aid and adsorbent in
edible oil processing. BASF BleachAid adsorbent has filtration
enhancement properties of conventional inert filter-aids.
Similar to conventional bleaching earths, BleachAid has impurity
removal properties (chlorophyll, carotenoid pigment, soaps
phospholipids and metals removal).
Further, it can be used to pre-coat bleaching earth filters or as
body feed to enhance bleaching earth filterability. BleachAid will
enhance "press effect" bleaching that occures during filtration of
bleaching earth. Inert filter-aid in the filter is replaced with
the active bleaching properties of BleachAid.
BASF BleachAid adsorbent will improve economics by reducing
bleaching earth consumption, reducing bleached oil loss and
decreasing spent earth disposal costs.
