BASF’s Deoxo™ aircraft ozone business wins Airbus Best Performer Gold Award

BASF’s Deoxo™ aircraft ozone business won the Airbus Best Performer Gold Award for the second year in a row at the recent Airbus equipment and systems Supplier Quality Improvement Program (SQIP) event. The Airbus SQIP awards recognize only a handful of suppliers who have excelled in overall quality and delivery performance throughout the entire calendar year. Deoxo™ ozone converters convert harmful ozone to oxygen in aircraft cabins.

R&D Award for Catalyst Designed to Optimize Oil Refiners’ Yields

The R&D Council of New Jersey recognized BASF inventors with the Thomas Alva Edison Patent Award for outstanding environmental contributions. The team of researchers developed BoroCat™, the first Fluid Catalytic Cracking (FCC) catalyst based on BASF’s unique Boron-Based Technology (BBT) platform. BASF Mobile Emissions Catalysts Asia Pacific received the "Quality 5-Star" Award from Hyundai Motor Company. The award is based on a multi-dimensional evaluation system that covers six criteria pertaining to quality, including control and management of production processes.

Supplier of the Year 2014, Hyundai Kia Motors

Heesung Catalysts, a Joint Venture of BASF in Korea,  won the Grand Award as "Supplier of the Year 2014" from Hyundai Kia Motors. The Grand Award is given exclusively to the most superior supplier, selected among more than 3,000 suppliers of Hyundai after a thorough evaluation of quality, technology and management aspects. Hyundai also awarded Heesung Catalysts with the "Grand Quality 5 Star" and "Technology 5 Star" awards for outstanding achievements in quality and technology aspects.

Our Diesel Oxidation Catalyst/Lean NOx Trap and Selective Catalytic Reduction on a diesel particulate filter system reduces emissions of carbon monoxide, hydrocarbons, nitrogen oxides and soot from diesel engines. It requires only two components and can eliminate the need for a urea injection system.

We commercialized the first CSF, including development of innovative new coating processes and equipment to successfully manufacture the product. We leveraged our early experience in the retrofit market to the light-duty diesel OEM (original equipment market) and then to the heavy-duty diesel OEM.
